Moel y Plas, Saturday the 24th of January

Llanarmon yn Ial is a small country village with a pub called the Raven and an old church. It was the start for the Tomen y Fendre Walk in December but we have gone in the opposite direction today towards Moel y Plas. The view below on the opposite hill shows the ancient Offas Dyke The Dyke appears to have been constructed in response to events in the border region involving the Princes of Powys, but whether it was intended as an agreed boundary between England and Wales, or for some other use, is not known. It is thought to have been started in about 785 AD and to have taken several years to build. However it crosses some beautiful countryside and is well walked. The Path runs for 177 miles from Sedbury Cliffs on the Severn Estuary near Chepstow to the North Wales resort of Prestatyn on Liverpool Bay. For about 70 miles it follows the course of the Eighth Century Offa's Dyke earthwork.

A distant view of Moel Fammau

Fantastic old tree

Again a very fragmented but interesting wall, well what is left of it .
The weather brightened up as the day went by, we met a few other people walking the route too.
Lv for now Hef
