My walk today started up a small hill for the sake of fitness. I had forgotten to take my camera with me, but luckily I did have my phone with me so with the built in camera at least I had the means to capture what I saw even though the quality is not particularly good. I followed my instinct as to where and which path to follow !! I came on the old railway line in Minera (once known as Mwynglawdd in 1685) and I followed the tack where the old line used to be.

Minera has a long history with extensive Limeworks, Lead and Coal mining in the area with extensive mines, quarries and kilns some are still visible between the brambles and trees in the woods.
The quarries and mines had their own narrow gauge railway (see picture above) with steam locomotives. One the named 'Minera' and in 1873 became derailed killing both the driver and his workmate. I have added a web link for you to read up on some of the interesting history of this once industrialised area . The area is quiet and peaceful today.

The weather is still cold and we have had some rain this last week. The paths are muddy and theres a need to be agile when avoing puddles and mud. However it has been good to get out and I do feel fitter.
Thats all for now lv Hef
